President

Kathleen (Kathy) Stecky, President of Stecky HR Consulting, LLC, thrives on helping CEOs reach organizational targets by fully leveraging the human capital within their organizations.

Recognizing an affinity for developing talent early in her career, Kathy entered the field of human resources in 1999. Advancing into progressively responsible positions throughout her career, she ultimately left her position as Director of Human Resources of the Cleveland Foundation in 2011 to establish Stecky HR Consulting, LLC.

Through her consulting practice, Kathy has worked closely with leaders of startup, small and mid-sized businesses to align their organizations’ HR practices with current legal requirements and best practices. Leading and guiding efforts to optimize human resource capabilities, she has worked with employers in nonprofit, manufacturing, technology and service industries.

Kathy’s areas of expertise include legal compliance (including employment practice audits and employee handbooks); talent acquisition; training; coaching; employee relations; organizational development and design; and compensation and benefits.

With a unique approach that is straightforward and accessible, one of Kathy’s primary talents lies in reasonably balancing regulatory and other requirements with real-life business needs, limitations and goals.

Kathy is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources through the Human Resource Certification Institute. She is a graduate of Leadership Cleveland and the YWCA’s Momentum leadership program, and has received the YWCA’s Women of Professional Excellence award.

Kathy has served on the board of directors of the Literacy Cooperative of Greater Cleveland as well as the Human Resources Leadership Group of Northeast Ohio, and has served on the Crain’s Cleveland Business Archer Awards judging panel. She is a past member of the Council on Foundations’ Fiscal and Administrative Officers Group, has executed HR-related sessions at the Ohio Grantmakers’ Forum annual conference, and has conducted speaking engagements for numerous organizations and leadership programs.

A lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio, Kathy obtained her bachelor’s degree in child and family community services from Bowling Green State University, and her master’s degree in management, labor relations and human resources from Cleveland State University. She is currently a resident of Cleveland and enjoys hosting gatherings for family and friends, spending time outdoors, and taking advantage of Northeast Ohio’s fantastic dining and cultural offerings.
